Outliers is really a great book. The problem is Gladwell leaves little room for critical thinking by interlacing his opinion and ideas throughout the book. I like to form my own thoughts based on research. But I think for the target this was a great book.

I wish I'd been born at the right time and had 10k hours of practice at doing something. Maybe blogging will help my writing skills.

One thing we can learn from the book and ask ourselves is how to really give everyone the opportunity of having a shot at success. Maybe not extraordinary success like you mention, but enough to live a great life.

Thank you for this review of Outliers. I think what many people may miss is the fact that we like to read about the extraordinary successes, but these are often the product of extraordinary circumstances. Ordinary people like me can look at what is presented in this book, and while I have little control over those extraordinary circumstances, I do have control over factors that can make me achieve "ordinary" success. And by the standards of the Outliers' extraordinary success, I have a feeling I'm going to be quite happy with "ordinary success".
