Wasting Time Vs Purposely Wasting Time

Time Management in the Age of Social Media

David Allen, author of GTD, has an article on Newsweek about so called social media and it’s effect on personal productivity. It’s really about the pros and cons of using services like Twitter or Facebook. My favorite bit from the article:

Someone noticed that I was now on Twitter and said: “How can you be productive on Twitter?” My simple answer: “If I want to have Twittered, then it’s productive!” I wasn’t trying to be facetious. The truth is, if you’re taking a vacation to relax and you don’t relax, then it’s an unproductive vacation.

To put it other words, purposely wasting your time is o.k. as long as you’re aware that you’re purposely wasting your time.
